Marke(ting)

What a wonderful topic…

A topic so delicious that I have no desire to talk about it. If I can’t have my cake and eat it too, then maybe I won’t eat this one. Besides, you don’t talk about marketing, you do marketing. And from my in depth research on marketing books, you must be prepared to sell your soul, on sale, to get two people to buy your book. If you desire for a third, get ready to start sacrificing other people. The more important the person is to you, the higher likelihood of a sale conversion. So, cheers to all my close friends and family for your devoted commitment to the success of this book.

In all seriousness, watching the faux master classes that exist in various shapes and forms to teach me how to market my book would be a very personal form of torture. How I see it, with completely fictional numbers (that could be very accurate), there will be a million books published this year, and there will be a million and one people who tell how to write your book, and a million and two people who tell you how to market your book. You multiply those probabilities out and you get some math number that means something. To someone else. To me, it means that I have another opportunity to be uniquely myself and appreciate my individual journey.

So, I’ll do some marke(ting) over the next few months, and you’ll see it or you won’t. And I’ll be happy.
